Reixach Promotes Sustainability with GasN2's CO2 Recovery Technology
At Reixach we are committed to innovation and sustainability and are constantly seeking new ways to improve our processes and reduce environmental impact.
We are proud to announce a new collaboration with GasN2, a Catalan company pioneering industrial and sustainable solutions. Thanks to its innovative technology, we are able to the CO2 present in the emissions from our boilers and reuse it in our own production process, providing more than 70% of our demand.
This initiative represents a fundamental step in our commitment to industrial decarbonization and the promotion of a more responsible and environmentally sustainable economic model.
Our boilers burn natural gas to heat water, a process that previously generated large amounts of emissions that we released directly into the atmosphere.
The technology proposed by GasN2 is based on a three-stage process: pre-treatment, treatment, and post-treatment of combustion gases. This method employs techniques such as CO₂ adsorption and desorption, enabling the efficient capture of this compound from combustion gases. Through this methodology, CO2 is separated and concentrated, resulting in a final compressed product ready for reuse or storage.
In this way, waste combustion gases from the same boiler become the primary source needed to carry out carbon dioxide capture which can then be used in our production process. This strategy not only allows us to utilize emitted gases as a valuable resource for production but also closes the emissions cycle, turning them into a key element within the production process.
DARTEX S.A. WATER RECOVERY PROJECT
In today’s world environmental protection is paramount and to this reason Escorxador Reixach is committed to Continuous Improvement in Resource Efficiency.
At Escorxador Reixach, we are committed to continuously improving efficiency in the management of natural resources and reducing their consumption.
The water recovery project by DARTEX, a wastewater treatment plant in which Reixach is a partner, involves the development of an innovative water reuse facility. DARTEX operates a biological active sludge treatment plant with a secondary clarifier that meets regulatory standards for discharge, in this case, into the Tordera River.
The treatment plant takes water from the wastewater plant's outlet and regenerates it for reuse through an ultrafiltration process. It is equipped with sensors to ensure fully automatic operation and features a shutdown system in case the incoming water does not meet quality standards. This project enables the recovery of 600 m³ of water per day.
The regenerated water is stored in a tank and distributed among the project’s four partners for reuse.

Once again, it has been a pleasure to participate in the second edition of the ATP Challenger Eurofirms Girona - Costa Brava tournament at the Club de Tennis Girona facilities!
The tournament corresponds to the ATP Challenger 100 category and represents the second most important event in Catalan men's tennis.

Acquisition of new cleaning equipment
We are pleased to announce that we have invested in state-of-the-art cleaning equipment, specifically designed to optimise the cleaning processes outside our facilities.
This new equipment not only ensures more efficient cleaning, but also significantly reduces our water consumption. This initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability and the operational efficiency of our facilities.
Escorxador Frigorífic Reixach SL improves its energy efficiency with the help of the IDAE and FEDER funds
Escorxador Frigorífic Reixach SL, committed to environmental sustainability, has carried out a project to improve energy efficiency at its centre located in Hostalric.
Its refrigeration installation has been replaced, with the aim of improving refrigeration performance and obtaining greater energy efficiency.
The project has been carried out within the framework of the call for the granting of subsidies under the Programme of aid for energy efficiency actions in SMEs and large companies in the industrial sector (call 2021), managed by the Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving (IDAE) and co-financed by the National Energy Efficiency Fund (FNEE) and ERDF funds, with the aim of achieving a cleaner and more sustainable economy.
The aid programme has financed the project to improve the refrigeration installation with 52,018.25 euros. Thanks to this, a reduction in energy consumption of 292.57 MWh per year will be obtained, allowing progress to be made in its objective of improving energy efficiency.

ATP Sponsorship
On 27 March 2023, we were one of the main sponsors of the ATP Challenger Tour event held at the Club de Tennis Girona.
An ATP challenger is a series of tennis tournaments where emerging players earn points to try to qualify for tournaments with a higher ranking.
In addition, this 2023 Spain has had an all-time record of 16 tournaments thanks to the inclusion of new events such as Tenerife, Girona or Les Franquesses del Vallès.
